Much to our pleasant surprise we were able to have Ava's Visa interview this afternoon.
During the morning we relaxed because once again we thought it was just going to be a day of relaxing and sight seeing. We are trying to keep the sight seeing to fairly brief events so that Ava does not get fussy.
We finally got smart enough to bring an extra pillow and blanket out to put on the wooden bench (couch) for us to sit on. All this time we have laid blankets down for Ava and didn't even consider it for ourselves... We have been trying to keep Ava busy on our laps and while sitting so that our flight might be a little more bearable next week. The first few days after receiving her, the only way that she would not cry was if we were walking/swaying/bouncing with her around the room. She is getting better about sitting in one place, as long as she does not need to lay on her back unattended- I am guessing that is a crib issue that she will have for a while.
We found out at 11:30 a.m. we had a 2:30 p.m. appointment at the US Embassy today not Monday. So we got ready. Then realized we did not have Kurt's passport because we had turned it in two days ago to have his Visa extended for 30 more days (ours expired January 26th). After a bit of a scramble we headed to the Embassy with a copy of his passport (which we brought with us) and a prayer that if I took care of all of the business, they would not ask to see his passport - his arms were busy with the baby. It worked. We paid the fee, answered the questions and were told to return on Monday to pick up Ava's Visa. When we were both asked for identification at the entrance we turned in our drivers licenses. Hopefully we will be able to return to NY a little earlier than originally planned.
We ordered dinner in because we needed to work with airlines/travel agent to adjust our flights. We will know more about our return date in the next few days.
Have a good weekend!

Hi,
It sounds like you are getting close to coming home. How exciting! Just a thought that you might not have as bad of a time as you think flying home as the plane will be in motion. She might surprise you and sleep most of the trip. :)
It sounds like you two are in good control and are handling all these unexpected things very well. Like old pro's.
Love Neeca
Meg. Kurt and Ava,
I read your blog everyday at least once. It is so great that you keep everyone up to date. I can't wait to see you all. I love you.
