Passport Paperwork - more needed

Remember a few posts back when I was all proud of myself for having all the paperwork needed to apply for Ava's Passport. Well - I had the paperwork but the person at the location where we applied in person did not make the necessary copies of the paperwork. So, we received a letter in the mail from the Passport Office and needed to send our "original" adoption documents and her Certificate of Citizenship to the National Passport Center. It was a bit uncomfortable sending all that documentation off to who knows where. I will feel much better when we have it in our possession again! I mailed it off on Monday - will update you when we actually receive her US passport.

All is well with Ava - her new favorite word and action is "up". She finally walks like a champ but would much rather be "up". She will eat just about anything, loves her VTech Farm matching game given to her by Carol for her birthday, wears hats when ever she can, loves shoes but has very small feet - so good ones are hard to find, made it through her first tumble down the stairs (with a minor limp for a few days - I think mom felt worse) and then a round of antibiotics for cold/congestion/fever/ear pulling symptoms which seemed to clear things up quickly once we started the drugs. We received our first set of "school pictures" - Ava was not smiling and looked like a little peanut compared to the other kids in her class. Up until the last week or so she generally slept through the night 7/8 p.m. to 7 a.m.. Lately she has been waking up around 5... So, we are trying to figure out if it is temporary due to teething (she currently has 6 teeth and more are starting to come in) or if we need to modify something.

So - life is good :).

People often ask me what the Vietnamese orphanages are like - here is an interesting link that describes them - http://www.adoptionbuzz.org/adoptionbuzz/vietnam_orphanages/index.html .
