Happy Memorial Day & Yes, Ava & the animals get along

We had a nice holiday weekend. God bless all the military people and their families. I was happy to be home for all three days this weekend. It is hard to believe that it has been almost 20 days since our last entry.

Over the last few weeks we have had lots of visitors. Grandma Belva, Grandma Marva, Papa Phil, Renee - Rose, Pearl & Marc, Jamie & Stacie - Sam & Will, Mike & Marnie, Uncle Chris & Aunt Margo - Becca. It was great to see all of them. It was also a busy few weeks of work - with the end of the semester and graduation events at IC. Kurt had a lot of daddy and Ava time. Mother's Day was very nice - Kurt & Ava gave me a tree to plant in our yard and we all went to lunch at Friendly's. Ava's biggest gift that day was just to be my daughter - a happy wonderful little girl!
Last Thursday we had our follow up home visit from our home study adoption agency. I think it went well... We played with Ava and answered all kinds of questions about travel from VN, logistics since returning home, daily routines, medical updates, developmental stages, how we are doing etc. We had the documentation from Vietnam that she needed and all information regarding medical and developmental updates. Since we had pulled a lot of this information together for the lawyer, it was pretty easy to provide to Family Connections when they asked. They will need to provide the report that she writes up about this meeting to the court as part of our adoption file.

Since the last post Ava is crawling like a pro, pulling up on things fearlessly, can stand on her own but can not move yet, and still loves the jolly jumper but not the exersaucer. She is saying her first word with meaning when she drops things, at least I think it qualifies as a word - uh ohoo with intonation. Since Kurt and I really don't say those words often (at least until she started saying it) we figure she must have learned it from the kids at daycare. So much for the sweet story about dada or mama...

"uh ohoo"....hey that's not a word, that's a sentence in our book! Standing up and moving from object to object....that walking!!
Congrats on everything. We are hoping to start the process with WC soon. Any words of advice?

Ahh, Ava is getting so big and she is just gorgeous! Aren't the jumpers great. My son loved it when he was a baby. He would actually spin and swing in it!

Hello,
I have recently found your blog. Ava is beautiful. I am excited to finally find a someone who is using the same agency as us. We are also adopting a girl....we finally have our dossier in Vietnam. I look forward to seeing updates.
