It was a very busy weekend. This weekend we went to Buffalo. Ava was very good on the car ride, was as cute as ever at our friends house and slept through the night in the pack and play. Nate, Laurie and their very cute new puppy Sadie heard Ava say "mama" for the first time. Now she says - Uh oh, All done, doggy, kitty, daddy, up, mama and signs eat, drink, gentle and one other thing we have not figured out yet... After a 3+ hour car ride home Ava was very active at home. She walked a full 7 steps unassisted. Made it up 4 stairs before we realized she was climbing them. She had the loudest belly laughs that I have heard since Vietnam. At the
ice cream stand she had her first
ice cream cone and walked across the parking lot to our car (holding our fingers).
When we got home we we had a nice
surprise in the mail, we received her SS card. It took 8 days from our time of application at the
ss office. I mailed our original
COC to the Department of Homeland Security to have her name changed on Friday so we beat the August 1 deadline of a financial increase.

Oh!! That very first "Mama." What a feeling!
What cute pictures with the puppy in the pool! And what wonderful memories of firsts.
:) Heather
what milestones! Hearing her say "mama" (and all those other words too) is great!

Hey Meg!
Andy here (Dayna's better anti-half) and I must say that you and Kurt appear to be doing a fantabulous job as parents! I mean really - if my guess is correct, Ava is not close to 18-months yet and already has a vocab! Friends of ours down here have kids that are well past 18-months and still not talking. I for one thought they were behind, alas the norm these days seems to be slower - Miss Ava however is doing awesome.
Bravo to you all! Remember to stop by here in a few years on your way to Disney.
